A high school football star consumes alcohol for the first time during his senior prom weekend; 'spirits' literally transform him into a bloodthirsty, murderous monster.

Synopsis

'The Drunk Monster' is an allegorical screenplay which tackles the subject of hereditary alcoholism. Its roots are planted in the horror genre, coupled with moments of levity. The story contains twists on the themes from "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde".

The main character, Shane White, is an adopted eighteen-year-old high school student. A football scholarship to Brown University in the fall sets him apart from fellow graduates.

Shane and his teammates rent a lush beach house for senior prom weekend. They plan to party hard. Having resisted drugs and alcohol for years, Shane suddenly folds under peer pressure due to a jealous moment involving his prom date. Alcohol literally transforms him into a bloodthirsty, savage monster. The monster sets out on a rampage and mauls hundreds of residents in the tiny beach town, including fellow teammates. Shane morphs back to normal once the alcohol wears off, but is left with a wicked hangover and a guilty conscience.

Police investigate the maulings. With minimal leads, they believe the attacker to be a bear. Without warning, Shane's adoptive parents sell him out as the culprit. Shane begins drinking as a defense mechanism and escapes the law by force to avoid prison. With a manhunt hot on his trail, he sets out on a quest to learn information about his birthparents.

Following uneasy revelations concerning his lineage, Shane must come to terms with what he truly is – The Drunk Monster. He is faced with two choices: simply embrace his newfound inner-demon or somehow find the strength eradicate it.
